Jacky was the first Liberal Democrat to be elected to the Borough Council for the Stapleford South East Ward at a by-election in March 1992. She has been re-elected four times since then (along with Councillor Michael Rich) and currently serves as part of the controlling Liberal Democrat group. Jacky's main role is as the Chair of the People and Places Scrutiny Committee and she is also a member of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
Jacky was elected to Stapleford Town Council in 1995, and served as Town Mayor between 2007-2008. In May 2008, Jacky became Leader of the Town Council.
Jacky was born in Aldershot, Hampshire and moved to Nottingham in 1969. She has lived in Stapleford since 1995. Her two daughters and son live close by and Jacky enjoys spending time with them and her three grandsons, Spencer, Jack and George.
Jacky has recently retired from the Nottingham University, where she was a Senior Research Fellow, working on various health-related research projects.
Jacky enjoys spending some quality time 'relaxing' in the garden, or growing fruit and vegetables on her allotment. Being involved in local politics is an important part of her life, bringing her into contact with many people and providing stimulation and challenges.
