Welcome to the Home Page of Broxtowe Liberal Democrats, one of the largest and most successful Liberal Democrat Parties in Nottinghamshire. This site contains information about our campaigns and our councillors The 2007 and 2009 local elections have been a high water mark for us, leaving us with more councillors and more votes than ever before. In both we have pushed the Labour Party into third place, and we are now well placed to make a serious challenge to win this seat at the next general election. Please use the tabs at the side or at the bottom to take a look round our site. This site is regularly updated, so please call back again soon.

Priority 1 – We oppose the unfair Council Tax. Until it is reformed, we will ensure that your money is spent wisely and efficiently. Priority 2 – We will reverse Labour’s decision to close Care Homes for elderly residents and we will cut the cost of Home Helps; Labour have increased this to £8.50 per hour. Priority 3 – We will ban Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) from local roads by enforcing and extending weight restrictions. Priority 4 – Nottinghamshire’s pavements and roads need £60 million spent on them to make them safe. We will spend £15 million extra each year for the next 4 years to make this happen. Priority 5 – We will ensure that road drains and gullies are sufficiently maintained to avoid local flooding problems. Labour cut maintenance to one clean per year! Priority 6 – We will dramatically improve access for young people to youth activities to give them something to do. This has been too low a priority for too long! Priority 7 – We will oppose building on our precious Green Belt land, stop the sale of any more school playing fields for development, and protect the open spaces that people enjoy. Priority 8 –We will positively encourage the National Government to scrap fees for our young people wanting to go into further education. Why should there be fees in England but not in Scotland? Priority 9 – We believe that our children still need better education. We will reduce class sizes for under 7s to 18 and for under 11s to 21.
Priority 10 – We will have zero tolerance to those that provide alcohol and drugs to our young people. |
